My Story
My path to becoming an art therapist wasn’t linear—it was shaped by change, uncertainty, and a deep search for meaning.
For over a decade, I worked as an elementary and music teacher. I loved the creativity, the connection, and the opportunity to support young people as they learned and grew. But over time, and after experiencing burnout, I found myself asking deeper questions about purpose, identity, and what it means to live a life that feels aligned and authentic. Making the decision to leave that career and begin again was not easy—it required turning my life upside down in many ways. But it also opened the door to something more meaningful.
That journey is what led me to art therapy.
I know what it feels like to live with depression—the heaviness, the disconnection, the quiet persistence of low mood, and the difficulty finding motivation or hope. Because of this, I bring not only clinical training, but genuine understanding, into the therapy space. My work is focused on supporting individuals experiencing depression, emotional overwhelm, and a sense of feeling stuck or lost.
I hold strong existential values that shape how I understand the therapeutic process. I connect with existential philosophy, particularly its focus on meaning, choice, and what it means to live authentically in the face of uncertainty. I believe that each person has the capacity for growth and change, and that therapy is not about “fixing,” but about creating a space where you can safely explore your inner world, develop self-compassion, and reconnect with what matters to you.
Art therapy offers a different way of engaging in this process. When words feel difficult or insufficient, creative expression can help bring shape to emotions, experiences, and questions that are hard to name. You don’t need any artistic skill—just a willingness to be curious and open to the process.
I understand how difficult it can be to make changes, to face uncertainty, or to begin again. But I also believe that within those moments lies the possibility for transformation.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected, you don’t have to navigate it alone. This is a space where you can explore, create, and begin to find your way forward—at your own pace.
